Bio

A diverse and engaging performer, Toronto-based violinist and vocalist Carmen Lasceski-Custers, has worked in numerous settings with a repertoire that spans many genres.

Originally from the rolling hills of Wisconsin, Carmen spent her early years touring with musician Diane Michaels, as part of the mother/daughter folk duo, Side by Side. She went on to complete post secondary studies in violin, voice and theater, and graduate studies in violin performance.

Influenced by the breadth of her musical experiences and passion for exploring a diverse range of genres Carmen enjoys re-imaging classic songs to showcase her warm and interpretive vocals while accompanied by her wandering and harmonically unexpected piano arrangements.

Her unique concert programs featuring classical violin and jazz vocals have received positive audience reviews. She released her first single, Over The Rainbow in September 2021 followed by Autumn Leaves in November 2021. Her third single, The Christmas Song was premiered on Big Breakfast Show with Colin, in December 2021 on Australia’s 4CRM 107.5FM Community Radio, Mackay.

She will be joining the Ontario Markham Concert Band as a guest vocal soloist for their Holiday concert on December 4, 2022. Her next single the first movement from J.S. Bach’s Sonata No. 1 in G minor for solo violin, is slated for release in 2023.
